In the fall on 2004 a Newhall Advisory Committee, comprised mostly of property owners, was formed to provide information to the community on contamination and clean up options, provide DEP with input/recommendations regarding clean up of the neighborhood, and be a forum for discussion and information exchange among stakeholders. This group met monthly until June 2006. A summary of each Newhall Advisory Committee meeting is listed below.
In April 2002 the Olin Corporation formed a Community Advisory Panel (CAP) to serve as a way for Olin and the community to talk with each other about the company’s plans to study the extent of pollution in the residential areas of the Newhall neighborhood and to discuss ways pollution could be cleaned-up. The Newhall Community Advisory Panel was made up of residents and Hamden Middle School teachers and parents. It met about a dozen times from April 2002 up to the final meeting of June 18, 2003.
